Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Coleraine, drivers must be at least 21 years of age, though age limits may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence that corresponds with the vehicle category must be held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Renters need to present valid identification and proof of current address. Payment details and a security deposit are also required. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Coleraine office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance, along with a security deposit, is usually collected upon vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment partners.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, with allowances made for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please notify us promptly if a delay is anticipated. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or fees incurred during your rental, in addition to a processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Details on coverage and any applicable excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to help lower your financial liability. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on your booking type and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar dangerous pursuits is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials or substances is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Additionally, do not exceed the specified passenger or weight limits or operate the vehicle outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by law in Northern Ireland, Car Hire Coleraine will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of their courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
